Father-son team up to rebuild '68 Camaro SS
By Claudio D'Andrea
Tony Angelo's dream car Camaro restoration for his dad was an idea that started with his mom.
It was more than 30 years ago that the American drift racer and stunt driver's mother wanted to give her husband a 1968 Camaro SS. But finding the right model proved difficult and seemed a lost cause.
Tony, who lives in Pennsylvania, was 14 years old at the time. He kept looking for the car until he finally found one, but it was missing a front end and engine.
Angelo went to work in his garage and started the rebuilding process.
He found some aftermarket front-end parts to at least make it look like the actual car and surprise his father, whose reaction was "a sight to behold," according to one report.
Dad then got involved in rebuilding his dream-come-true Camaro and deciding what went into the car. The father and son kept the white exterior with a red interior and installed a six-speed automative drivetrain.
"I bought my Dad his first muscle car, a 1968 Chevy Camaro that he's wanted since high school. We've been fully restoring and modifying this car since last year," Tony posted on the July 4, 2025 episode of the restoration he chronicled on his YouTube channel Stay Tuned. He Facetimed his father to show him the finished car then took it out for a spin.
"This is like a '68 Camaro -- re-envisioned, but (it) also keeps that old-school vibe," Tony said. "It's so good!"
