This inner deck filler panel is a direct-fit replacement for 1970–1981 Camaro and Firebird rear deck areas. It restores corroded or damaged sheetmetal behind the taillights and under the decklid, providing correct alignment, structural support, and sealing surfaces for a factory-correct restoration. Built with OEM-style contours for accurate fitment, the panel improves durability and prevents water intrusion while simplifying repair and refinishing for a long-lasting finish.
Features:
  • Fits 1970–1981 Camaro and Firebird models (direct replacement panel).
  • Stamped steel construction with OEM-style contours for accurate fit and alignment.
  • Restores structural support, decklid alignment, and taillight mounting surfaces.
  • Pre-formed to reduce fabrication time during replacement or restoration.
  • Helps prevent water intrusion and rust when properly welded and sealed.
  • Supplied as a repair panel ready for welding, priming, and finishing.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2–4 hours (experienced technician)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder or cutoff tool
  • MIG welder (or appropriate welding equipment)
  • Spot weld cutter or drill
  • Clamps and panel alignment tools
  • Body hammer/dolly (as needed)
  • Seam sealer
  • Rust inhibitor/primer and paint
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection)
Instructions:
  1. Test-fit the panel to verify alignment and locate any trimming or modification points.
  2. Mark and remove the damaged or rusted original panel using a grinder or spot weld cutter; retain dimension references.
  3. Prepare mating surfaces by cleaning to bare metal and removing rust, paint, and debris.
  4. Trial-fit the replacement panel, making any minor adjustments for a gap- and contour-correct fit.
  5. Clamp the panel in place and tack-weld at several points to verify alignment before completing welds.
  6. Finish weld seams using short runs to avoid warping; grind welds smooth as needed.
  7. Apply seam sealer to seams and joints to prevent moisture intrusion.
  8. Treat bare metal with rust inhibitor/primer, then prime and paint to match surrounding panels.
  9. Reinstall any removed trim, taillights, or hardware and verify decklid and taillight alignment.
