Front outer tie rod end designed for 1965–1969 Chevrolet and Pontiac passenger cars. This replacement tie rod end secures the steering linkage to the wheel spindle, maintaining precise steering geometry and safe vehicle handling. Built to restore correct steering response, reduce play in the steering system, and resist wear under normal driving conditions. Ideal for restoration projects or routine maintenance, it provides reliable performance and long service life when installed and maintained properly.
Features:
- Fits 1965-1969 Chevrolet and Pontiac passenger cars (front outer tie rod end, right or left hand).
- Direct replacement for worn or damaged outer tie rod ends to restore steering precision.
- Durable metal construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long-term use.
- Greaseable design (where applicable) to extend service life and reduce wear.
- Helps eliminate steering play, uneven tire wear, and improves vehicle safety.
- Easy-to-install design compatible with factory steering linkage and hardware.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 60-120 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise vehicle with a floor jack and support on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Locate the outer tie rod end where it connects to the steering knuckle; remove the cotter pin if present and loosen the castellated nut but do not remove it yet.
- Mark the position of the tie rod end on the inner tie rod or count the exposed threads to preserve alignment when installing the new part.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle. Remove the castellated nut and pull the tie rod end free.
- Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns as noted during removal (or match the thread count/markings) and remove the old unit.
- Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the marked position or the same thread count. Make final adjustments after a preliminary installation.
- Insert the new tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, install the castellated nut and torque to the vehicle manufacturer's specification. Install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- If the part is greaseable, apply grease with a grease gun until the boot shows slight expansion or per manufacturer's guidance.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Because steering geometry was altered, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure proper toe and tire wear.
