Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
- Raise the front of the car with a jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel on the side being serviced.
- Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod connections and let soak if rusted.
- Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut (or retaining nut) from the inner tie rod stud.
- Separate the inner tie rod from the steering linkage using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork. Be careful not to damage the steering arm.
- Count the number of exposed threads or measure the length of the old inner tie rod to match the new part for similar alignment settings.
- Unscrew and remove the old inner tie rod. Clean the mounting area and inspect surrounding components for wear.
- Install the new inner right-hand tie rod by threading it into place to the same length as the original, then tighten to the specified torque.
- Reconnect the stud to the steering linkage, install the castle nut, torque to spec, and insert a new cotter pin if required.
- Grease the joint if the part has a grease fitting, lower the vehicle, and reinstall the wheel.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and prevent uneven tire wear.
