Front upper ball joint designed for 1993-2002 Chevrolet and Pontiac models to restore proper steering and suspension geometry. This replacement ball joint secures the upper control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining correct wheel alignment, reducing play, and improving handling and tire life. Built from hardened steel with corrosion-resistant finishes and precision-pressed bearings, it offers reliable long-term performance and straightforward installation for restoration or routine maintenance.
Features:
  • Fits 1993-2002 Chevrolet and Pontiac models — front upper, right or left side.
  • Constructed from hardened steel with corrosion-resistant coating for durability.
  • Press-fit design secures the upper control arm to the steering knuckle to restore alignment.
  • Reduces steering play and vibration for improved handling and tire wear.
  • Direct replacement for worn or damaged ball joints in restoration and maintenance projects.
  • Includes greaseable or sealed options (verify SKU) for ease of service and longevity.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Ball joint press or C-clamp with adapters
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Pry bar
  • Hammer
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Grease gun (if greaseable type)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the upper ball joint stud. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork.
  4. Disconnect any sensors or brake-line brackets attached to the control arm as needed to gain clearance.
  5. Remove the upper control arm if necessary to access the pressed-in ball joint. Support the control arm and unbolt mounting hardware.
  6. Use a ball joint press with the correct adapters to press out the old ball joint from the control arm housing. Clean the bore and inspect for damage.
  7. Press the new ball joint into the control arm until fully seated. If greaseable, apply fresh grease via the zerk fitting after installation.
  8. Reinstall the upper control arm (if removed) and reattach the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle. Install the castle nut and torque to manufacturer specification, then insert a new cotter pin.
  9. Reattach any removed brackets or sensors. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
  10. Perform a wheel alignment after installation to ensure proper toe and camber settings.
