This radiator support top panel is a direct-fit replacement designed for 1970–1981 Camaro and Firebird models equipped without factory air conditioning. It provides structural support and correct mounting points for the radiator, grille, and hood latch to restore proper front-end alignment. Manufactured to reproduce factory dimensions, the panel improves durability, reduces vibration, and helps prevent radiator movement or damage. Its corrosion-resistant finish and precision fit make it ideal for restoration projects and reliable long-term repairs while remaining straightforward to install.
Features:
  • Fits 1970–1981 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird without factory A/C.
  • High-strength stamped steel construction for long-lasting durability.
  • Restores factory mounting points for the radiator, grille, and hood latch.
  • Pre-drilled holes and factory-correct dimensions for direct bolt-in installation.
  • Corrosion-resistant coating helps prevent rust and extends service life.
  • Reduces vibration and movement to protect the radiator and associated components.
  • Perfect for restoring rusted or damaged original top panels to factory fit and function.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Suggested Tools:
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Wrenches
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Pliers
  • Drain pan
  • Work gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Jack and jack stands or vehicle ramps (if needed)
  • Torque wrench (recommended)
Instructions:
  1. Park on a level surface, set the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Allow the engine to cool. Place a drain pan under the radiator and drain coolant to below the radiator neck.
  3. Remove any components that obstruct access to the top panel (grille, upper shroud, hood latch hardware, or radiator fan shroud) per factory service procedures.
  4. Support the radiator if necessary and disconnect upper radiator mounting hardware and any attached brackets or hoses that attach to the top panel.
  5. Remove the fasteners securing the old top panel and carefully lift it away, noting locations of clips and mounting points.
  6. Test-fit the new top panel to verify alignment and hole placement; adjust as needed before final installation.
  7. Install the new top panel using original or supplied hardware. Tighten fasteners snugly, then torque to factory specifications if available.
  8. Reinstall any removed components (radiator mounting hardware, shroud, grille, hood latch) and reconnect hoses or brackets.
  9. Refill the cooling system with the correct coolant mixture, bleed air per manufacturer procedures, and reconnect the battery.
  10. Start the engine and check for proper alignment, secure mounting, and leaks. Re-torque fasteners after a short test drive if recommended.
