A direct-fit sending unit engineered for 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird fuel tanks, designed to provide accurate fuel level readings while accommodating dual fuel lines (3/8" and 1/4"). This dual-line sending unit replaces worn or damaged original equipment, restoring reliable gauge operation and simplifying installation with precision-fit mounting and corrosion-resistant fittings. Ideal for restorations and performance builds, it ensures dependable fuel plumbing and long-term durability under road conditions.
Features:
- Fits 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and 1969 Pontiac Firebird fuel tanks (dual-line configuration).
- Accepts both 3/8" and 1/4" fuel line connections for flexible plumbing and return-style systems.
- Durable, corrosion-resistant metal fittings and quality electrical sender for long service life.
- Direct-replacement design for an OEM-style fit and restored fuel gauge accuracy.
- Simple swap-in replacement to eliminate intermittent gauge readings and prevent fuel line leaks during restoration.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Instructions:
- Work in a well-ventilated area, disconnect the negative battery terminal, and relieve fuel system pressure per vehicle procedure.
- Safely support the vehicle on jack stands or a lift. If required, drain or catch fuel from the tank into a suitable container.
- Access the sending unit—either through the interior access plate (if equipped) or by lowering the fuel tank. Support the tank before removing straps or hardware.
- Carefully disconnect fuel lines (3/8" and 1/4"), vent/return fittings, and the electrical connector from the existing sending unit. Label lines if needed for reassembly.
- Remove the sending unit retaining ring or bolts, then lift the old unit out. Inspect the tank sealing surface and clean away old gasket material or debris.
- Install a new gasket or O-ring and position the replacement sending unit in the tank. Align sender properly and secure with the retaining ring or bolts to the recommended torque.
- Reconnect the 3/8" and 1/4" fuel line fittings and the electrical connector. Replace any worn hose clamps or fuel hoses as needed.
- Lower the tank (if removed), reconnect the battery, and turn the ignition to the ON position to cycle the fuel pump. Check for leaks at all fittings and confirm proper gauge operation.
- Start the engine and verify stable gauge readings and leak-free connections. Re-torque fittings if required after initial run-in.
