Galvanized fuel tank designed for 1978-1981 Camaro and 1979-1981 Firebird models that replaces the original tank with a corrosion-resistant, direct-fit unit. The tank includes a matched filler neck and is engineered to restore proper fuel containment, prevent rust and leakage, and return the vehicle to reliable, road-ready condition. Constructed for durability and long-term service, this tank is ideal for restorations, collision repairs, or upgrading an aging fuel system while maintaining factory fit and function.

  • New tank straps or mounting hardware (recommended)
  • Gasket or sealant for sending unit (if required)

Instructions:
  1. Work in a well-ventilated area and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent sparks.
  2. Drain fuel from the old tank into an approved container and relieve any system pressure.
  3. Raise and securely support the vehicle with jack stands or use a lift.
  4. Spray mounting bolts and fuel fittings with penetrating oil to ease removal.
  5. Support the tank with a jack or suitable support, then remove tank straps or mounting hardware.
  6. Disconnect fuel lines, vapor lines, filler neck, and electrical connections to the fuel sending unit.
  7. Lower and remove the old tank; inspect lines, straps, and fittings for wear and replace if needed.
  8. Transfer the sending unit and any necessary fittings to the new galvanized tank, using a new gasket or sealant as required.
  9. Install the included filler neck and check for proper alignment and seal at the neck-to-body connection.
  10. Raise the new tank into position, secure with straps/mounting hardware, and torque fasteners to spec.
  11. Reconnect fuel lines, vapor lines, and electrical connectors; double-check all clamps and fittings for tightness.
  12. Refill with a small amount of fuel, reconnect the battery, start the engine and inspect for leaks; lower the vehicle and perform a final road check.
