Left-hand trunk floor drop-off panel designed for 1967-1968 Camaro and Firebird models. This high-quality replacement panel restores the dropped portion of the trunk floor, repairing rusted or damaged metal and returning structural integrity to the rear trunk area. Made from durable, formed steel with OEM-style contours for precise alignment, it provides reliable fitment, long-lasting corrosion resistance when properly treated, and straightforward installation for competent DIYers or professional restorers. Ideal for restoration projects and rust repair to maintain factory appearance and function.
Features:
- Fits 1967-1968 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird (left hand / driver side trunk floor drop-off).
- Stamped, formed steel construction reproduces OEM contours for accurate fit and alignment.
- Restores trunk floor strength and prevents water intrusion and further rust damage.
- Designed for easy trimming, tack-welding or plug-welding to existing structure for a secure repair.
- Corrosion-resistant material ready for primer, seam sealer, and paint to complete restoration.
- Saves time over fabricating panels from scratch and improves final appearance of restoration projects.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–3 hours (depending on corrosion extent and welding experience)
Instructions:
- Prepare workspace and remove trunk trim, carpeting, spare tire, and any obstructions to access the damaged panel.
- Clean the repair area: remove loose rust, undercoating, and damaged sheet metal. Use a spot-weld cutter or drill to remove factory spot welds where necessary.
- Test-fit the replacement left-hand drop-off panel to confirm orientation and fit. Mark any interference points and trim the panel as required for a snug fit.
- Clamp the panel in place and fit-up gaps. Use tack welds or plug/spot welds to secure the panel in several locations to maintain alignment.
- Complete welds around the perimeter and any seam joints. Grind welds smooth and check fit of adjacent panels to ensure proper contour.
- Treat welded areas with rust inhibitor, apply seam sealer to all joined seams, then prime and paint the repaired area to match the trunk floor.
- Reinstall trunk components, carpeting, and trim. Inspect the repair for watertightness and proper fit.
