Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and prop the hood open securely with a temporary support (wood block or second person) before removing the factory prop rod.
- Remove the factory prop rod and any associated brackets or hardware from the hood and fender/hinge area.
- Test-fit the new mounting brackets and gas strut to determine the correct orientation and clearance; ensure the strut will fully extend without interference.
- Mark mounting hole locations on the hood and hinge/fender using the bracket as a template. Center-punch marks to prevent drill wandering.
- Drill pilot holes if necessary (use appropriate bit for sheet metal) and de-burr edges. If the kit provides self-tapping screws or bolts, use those per the included hardware instructions.
- Attach the hood-side bracket and the hinge/fender bracket with the supplied hardware, leaving bolts finger-tight to allow final alignment.
- Snap or bolt the gas strut onto the ball studs or bracket mounts (attach the strut closed end to the hood and the extended end to the hinge/fender as recommended). Align and fully tighten all fasteners.
- Carefully remove the temporary support and cycle the hood slowly several times to verify smooth operation, full travel, and secure hold-open. Re-tighten hardware if needed and check for clearance against bodywork.
