Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage the parking brake, and open the hood.
- Locate the existing hood/fender bumpers. Note whether each bumper is a push-in type or secured with a nut on a threaded stud.
- Remove the old bumper: for push-in types, pry gently with a flat-blade screwdriver or trim tool and pull the bumper free; for threaded types, hold the stud with pliers and remove the nut with the appropriate socket or wrench.
- Clean the mounting hole and surrounding area with a rag; remove dirt, grease, and corroded material. Apply penetrating oil if a stud is seized.
- Install the new BMP 023 bumper: push the replacement bumper firmly into the hole until fully seated for push-in styles, or slide the threaded stud through the hole and secure with the nut (hand-tighten, then snug with a wrench). Avoid over-tightening.
- Close the hood slowly to check alignment and panel gap. If the hood contacts too high or low, adjust by using an alternate bumper height, adding a thin washer under a threaded bumper, or trimming the bumper tip slightly, then retest.
- Repeat installation for the opposite side and any additional bumpers. Re-check hood fit and operation after all bumpers are installed.
