Instructions:
- Open the door and remove the old weatherstrip: gently pry out any retainers and peel the old seal from the channel.
- Clean the door frame channel thoroughly with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth to remove old adhesive, dirt, and seal residue.
- Dry-fit the new DWR 1710 70 seal along the channel to confirm orientation (right-hand) and identify any trim points or overlaps.
- If adhesive is recommended, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or the seal per adhesive manufacturer instructions.
- Starting at the hinge area, press the seal firmly into the channel, working along the length of the door toward the striker, ensuring the seal fully seats into the channel profile.
- Use a rubber mallet or padded block to gently tap the seal into place where needed; trim excess seal material with scissors or a utility knife for a clean termination.
- Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately and allow adhesive to cure per the adhesive instructions (typically 1–24 hours).
- Close and open the door several times to check fit and make minor adjustments; ensure the door latches smoothly and there are no gaps that could allow water or wind noise.
